The Hermit Vase is inspired by the artist’s love for the Cedar Mountains in Lebanon where she spent her summers. She was always fascinated by the stories of the hermit monks who fled to the valley in times of conflict and lead a life of spiritual solitude.
The vase represents the hermit’s cave. It is glazed and protected, while the hermit is left unglazed. With time, the hermit transforms in color and reflects the changes in the environment, such as the finger prints of the people who touch it, letting its journey change over time.
