Q&A with: JenTonic

When did you launch your brand?
Launched in 2018 after a photography exhibition I did about Tripoli. The names of my pictures took as much of a hit as the photos. People wanted the titles written on items.

What motivated you to start?
I wanted a platform where I can have fun with my humor without taking things too seriously. Jentonic started as a fun project where the number 1 rule is to make ppl smile and not to take things seriously.
Where do you find inspiration?
Cultures / travels and among everything: IN CHAOS.

Why do you do what you do?
Because it comes from the gut, the heart and spontaneously. I can't control it.

What made you pursue it?
My mom and her support, the people who cheerlead my word games and beg me to do something with it.

In a time where a lot of people left Lebanon, why did you choose to stay?
Because it's my first source of inspiration. It's where my creativity booms and it's where the language feeds itself to best reflect the situations I portray when I design my items.

Describe how art is important to society
It's a visual tool that heals each person on a personal level.

What is the main thing you want people to know about you or your work?
My main purpose is to show them how beautiful this country is and how our humor and the core of lebanon are what make us special.

What would your advice be for someone who wants to start their own brand?
If it's not fun then you're not making it right.
